Our Father and Mother newly married with my maternal Parents and Uncles

Our Amma, or Mother, is known for her selfless love and compassion toward all beings, not only from our family but our friends and relatives as well.  Mother is the most important person for everyone in this world. My Mother gave all of us everything nut never asked us to pay her back.  Our Mother is an ordinary woman who lost both her Parents in such an early age and she had siblings and her own Children to take care off. But with strong willpower and persistence she had to face the toughest challenges in life and she did it. She educated all my Uncles and married her youngest Sister my Aunt. She did the same with all my Brothers and sent them to Calcutta while they were so young.  She often used to tell all of us to get education and stand on your own feet.  For example when she turned 65, she was living in Washington DC with my Brother. She went to Adult School and learnt how to read and write and very soon she started speaking in little English she knows. Our Mother has helped us appreciate life, Compassion, strength, love and taught us all to give things rather than to receive.

Her day started early in the morning at Five, after her bath used to recite all the slokams in front of Gods. My Sisters and myself just by listening to all her slokams we learnt and taught us how to chant all the slokams. Till today we regard her as the iron lady of our house. To us she is always in our spirits showing us the right way.
